The Princess and the Barrio Boy
Pre-K 3, 4
week of: March 7-11,2011: continue work on La Oreja (telling a word/words in Spanish one-at-a time, repeating back to all students in circle), I read the book Paco y la Planta de Chile Gigante/Paco and the Giant Chile Plant, started coloring and assembling “las orejas grandes” (big ears). Next week we, will finish coloring and assembling the orejas (ears), do circle work wearing the ears and using Spanish words, and we will begin a new unit.
Spanish 6th, 7-8 -discussion of Latino culture in the U.S. and racismo (racism)/ prejudice within a race between rich and poor, etc. We also discussed how some employers treat hired help, newly-arrived Latinos in America, and started the film, “The Princess and the Barrio Boy.” We will finish film next week, discuss the movie, and finish the handout/worksheet in class. Students will turn-in the worksheets at end of class for 30 points total on Participation grade.
Assignment: 7-8 for Tuesday, March 15, 2011-please have numbers 1-7 answered from “The Princess and the Barrio Boy” worksheet upon arrival to class. We will finish film on Tuesday, March 15. Extra worksheets are posted on the door outside class. Total worksheet points-30 points–will finish worksheet after film next Tuesday.
Assignment for 6th grade- have questions 1-7 from worksheet on “The Princess and the Barrio Boy” answered when you arrive in class on Wednesday, March 16th, 2011. Extra worksheets are posted outside the door of my classroom. Total worksheet points 30 points-we will finish worksheet after viewing the film on Wednesday. Discussion after movie, turn-in woksheet/hand-out.
