Middle School – Math, Science and Social Studies – Mr. Wilhelm

A huge thank you to Dr. Steven Beer for his generous donation of 3 digital microscopes!  They are an amazing science tool for kids to see specimens.

In math the middle school has started working with polynomials, percents and decimals.  We hope to be ready for the PAWS tests soon which is next month!

Visit our various science blogs beginning with: http://wilhelmrodney.edublogs.org/ .  The 7th/8th grade students have started their own science blog to record labs, chapter summaries, and other science tidbits from class.  To access the students’ blogs the address is similar to the one above just substitute their last name/first name where mine is. We have finished physical science topics and moved on to life science starting with the parts of the cell.

In Social Studies the 6th graders will begin studying ancient Rome and the 7th/8th graders will studying the Civil War.

Copy of schedule

Grades continue to go out every Tuesday. On February 21st the 6th will be hosting the monthly bake sale.

Work continues on the anti-bullying task force.  We are close to finishing which means we will have the handbook revised and sent to parents, goals to abolish bullying written, and a selection of a program for the next few years.  It might be 2nd Step to be continued or something new.

The middle school visited the capital and met the governor.

Parents would be a great help in preparing their children for the PAWS test if they practiced reading and basic math facts at home consistently.  There is only one more month until we start testing.
